PECO Family Jams: Mixed-Media Self-Portraits

Self-portraits are a favorite with artists, from finger painters to Rembrandt. Isaiah Zagar, creator of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, made more than 2,400 between 1976 and 1993. He used paint, fabric, office supplies, photographs, jewelry, toys, and more.
Explore our current exhibition Ritual of Self. Then grab a mirror and make your own self-portrait to take home. We will have many unusual materials to use, but feel free to include something from home.

PECO Family Jams are PMG’s family-oriented programs, held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 pm. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission to PMG.
