PECO Family Jams: Pebble Skulls & Pasta Bones

Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens’ current art show “Viviendo a través de la muerte: Obras de Ivette Chaires/Living Through Death: Works by Ivette Chaires” includes portraits of Magic Gardens’ founding artists Isaiah and Julia Zagar, and their friends – as skeletons! Mexican artist Ivette Chaires uses a traditional papier-mâché technique called cartonería to capture each person’s mood, posture, and unique style. Explore this remarkable show, then use pasta and pebbles to bring your own skeletons life.

PECO Family Jams are the Magic Gardens’ family-oriented programs held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 p.m. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission.
