PECO Family Jams: Rubber Stamps
March 10 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free – $15This month, we are celebrating Isaiah Zagar’s 85th birthday with one of his favorite tools: the rubber stamp. Isaiah began using rubber stamps in his artwork when he was a child. Later, he designed his own using simple line drawings and special phrases. These appear on many of the tiles Isaiah made while creating Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens.
Discover other ways Isaiah uses rubber stamps in our current exhibition Ritual of Self: Isaiah Zagar’s Self-Portraits on Paper. Then experiment with rubber stamps on paper and clay. Make a “tile” to take home and leave behind a birthday wish.
Find more stamped tiles during free tours of our fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 pm.
PECO Family Jams are PMG’s family-oriented programs, held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 pm. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission to PMG. Purchase your tickets in advance.
