Superpower Songs! Music Learning Theory Classes with Miss Minor

Miss Minor’s Music School presents Superpower Songs, music classes for babies & tots proven to boost cognitive growth and social bravery! These classes are based on Edwin Gordon’s Music Learning Theory which provides a research-backed foundation for lifelong music-learning, and are naturally inclusive of students with special needs! There will be lots of movement/adapted movement, play, group interaction, limited (if any) amplification, and quiet spaces if a break is needed. Music is the same for both classes each session, but they just have mobility differences. ALL ages are welcome!!

From Miss Minor:
The way it works is that each 6-week session I’ll choose about 15 diverse songs and pick and choose which song to do based on the vibes of the room at that very moment. Parents and caregivers will learn them quickly and are invited to sing along and dance as powerful models for the children. Most of the songs will be non-verbal and non-amplified, seamlessly flowing as much as possible to keep the littles engaged. I’ll be wearing a headset mic so I can interact better with the littles. Sometimes, we will sit in a loose circle and allow toddlers to wander and dance as they wish, while other times we might stand and model dancing, or dance with our babies. For kiddos who would like a break (or if YOU would like a break) the hallway/field will always be available to you. Kids are welcome to be kids and are ALWAYS welcome to wander in all of my classes. Class length is 30-40 minutes followed by playtime on the indoor field if it is available (which it is, almost always at this time). Miss Minor’s Music Learning Theory Classes
When: Thursdays
10am – walkers 12 months and up (age does not matter!) with playtime on the field to follow
11am – infants, crawlers, and non-mobile friends (again, age does not matter!)
Where: Phield House, 814 Spring Garden Street
Cost: $20 per child, $10 per sibling via Venmo, Cash App, or Cash.
