Visit Wildwood, NJ, The Perfect Jersey Shore Family Trip

Wildwood New Jersey is a super family-friendly destination on the Jersey Shore! It is walkable, full of activities, parks, and of course the beach and boardwalk. It’s Wildwoods is made up of three towns—North Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest. It boasts five miles of beach, and a two-mile boardwalk, and the famous Morey’s Piers and all the amusement park fun that comes with it!

We decided to take a December / winter trip to Wildwood for relaxing family getaway and it was just what the doctor ordered! Wildwood in the winter is full of magic; chilly beach walks, light shows, hot cocoa and much more.

Where to stay in Wildwood, NJ

The Hen Houses are the PERFECT family-friendly spot to stay in Wildwood, NJ open year round. The Hen Houses is a new micro-resort located right in the heart of Wildwood. This micro-resort has 6 smaller homes (2 bedrooms) for rent and a larger Manor (4 bedrooms) that can be rented out for a big family getaway, event, or retreat.

Each of the houses are fully equipped with everything you can possibly need; from spices for cooking, dishwasher pods, laundry supplies, down to the q-tips and makeup remover pads. This is literally the best of both worlds because you are renting the whole house, but you get the accommodations you would receive at a hotel – daily cleaning, fresh towels, etc. They even had a rollaway crib for our toddler!

Some of my favorite amenities of the resort include: firepits, on-site pool, bikes to use during your stay, on-site parking included with your stay, cornhole, and ping pong tables. Each house also has a cozy porch and fireplace. You can easily walk to the beach, boardwalk, eateries, parks, shops, and much more from here.

Where to eat

Wildwood is filled with lots of delicious eateries for the whole family. Here are a few that we enjoyed during our visit to Wildwood.

Mudhen Brewing: A huge local brewery just steps from the Hen Houses. They have a huge menu of delicious food for the whole family and craft beers. The brewery also has live-music and fun family-friendly events throughout the year. We enjoyed a holiday pop-up with local vendors, firepits and much more.

Poppi’s Brick Oven Pizza: Delicious hand-crafted Neopolitian style pizza just steps away from The Hen Houses. Perfect spot for families as the service is quick and the food is delicious.

Dogtooth Bar & Grill: Dogtooth Bar & Grill is the go-to spot for locals and tourists to enjoy the best of what the town has to offer. The menu features a huge variety perfect for the whole family.  Whether you’re in the mood for a burger, a salad, or a classic cocktail, they have it!

Uncle Bill’s Pancake House: Local chain serving breakfast all day, plus sandwiches & other popular dishes.

Parks to visit

Wildwood is filled with lots of family fun. Here are a few parks we came across during our weekend getaway to Wildwood.

Holly Beach Park: A beautiful little park that transforms into a Winter Wonderland for the Holiday Season. During the warmer months this is the perfect spot for a picnic!

Fox Park: Located on Ocean Ave in Wildwood. Consists of a playground, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. The playground is fenced in which is always a plus!

Albert I Allen Memorial Park: Located at 2200 Delaware Avenue in North Wildwood. Full service playground and features the only skate park and hockey rink on the island! Tennis courts, basketball courts, shuffleboard courts and picnic areas on site as well as an observation pier over the marshes.

The Boardwalk

One of the top attractions in Wildwood is the Boardwalk! The boardwalk in Wildwood is about 2 miles long and  packed end to end with shops, waterparks, eateries, entertainment and amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions.

Wildwood New Jersey is a super family-friendly destination on the Jersey Shore! We cannot wait to go back!!
